Guy J has been on the lips of many of us during the last couple of weeks with his brand new album 100 Words that was out the other day on Bedrock Records. We wanted to get our questions answered from the man himself. When did you develop the idea for a new album? I started working on "1000 Words" about year and half ago and wanted, straight away, to create 2 cd's, each one in a different style, to give listeners 2 sides of me as a musician. CD1 is more experimental and more free style and the second cd stays in the genre of house music. This way I can express myself more and be more open-minded. How would you desribe "1000 Words"? "1000 Words" is a journey throughout music and feelings. What has been the main source of inspiration for the new album? This new album is very personal album, there are a lot of inspirations from different moments that I've had while working on my album - moments from traveling to new countries and meeting new peoples and things that have been happening in my personal life. The album has a brilliant atmospheric opening touch to it. What is behind the the album name “1000 Words"? When I was thinking about title name for my album it was hard to find one. I had so many coming up to my head, was listening and trying to find the right name, but had loads of names coming up because each track gave a different vibe. So I came up with "1000 Words", but I think that listeners can have their own imagination to describe how they see this album. Do you have a favourite production on the album? If yes which one and why? It's hard to choose a favourite production, I think each track has its own special place for me. Which sound will we be hearing from you in 5 years and where do you see yourself as an artist? I hope in 5 years to be more developed as a musician and also studio gear-wise. The music world is endless and you can always learn more & more. As an artist I hope I'll get to do soundtracks for movies and experience new projects that I never did before. How important has Bedrock's music been for your career and what’s the secret story behind your partnership? Bedrock is a very inspiring and influential on my music and DJ career. I've always been following releases and artists that came on that label and for the last few years it's been like a home for me. I'm very happy to be at this place since my first release until my second album "1000 Words", Bedrock has always been very supportive and gives me freedom as an artist, which shows that this is a label that cares about music and its artists. My work with Bedrock started in 2007 with my first release "Save Me". Are you planning an album tour or maybe making more frequent visits to the European countries? My album tour kicks of on 25th at Arcadia,London and continues through other countries in Europe and outside Europe and will visit South and North America and Australia. What can you improve as an artist or/and DJ to take yourself to the next level? I think its important to follow what is happening in the music industry, also to hear what other gear people use and find out what is sounding best for yourself. There is an endless list of tools that can be used and there are more coming every day!
