Peter Drucker: An Intellectual Journey
As Marx invented Communism and Freud invented psychoanalysis, Peter Drucker invented the field of modern management. Through his 35 books and hundreds of articles, Drucker had enormous influence on managers in corporations, nonprofits and government agencies around the world. Peter Drucker: An Intellectual Journey, a one-hour documentary written and directed by Ken Witty, follows Drucker’s journey from his earliest years in Vienna to his acknowledged position today as the “guru” of management.
Producer and director Ken Witty had worked with Drucker over the years on various television projects. “One day it occurred to me,” said Witty, “that no one had ever done a serious biographical documentary about one of the geniuses of the twentieth century. Since Peter was over 90, I figured it was now or never.”
Through a series of exclusive interviews with Drucker and executives he worked closely with over the years, the documentary provides a rare inside look into the mind of one of our most brilliant thinkers. Some of the business leaders included in the documentary include Jack Welch, former CEO of General Electric, A.G. Lafley, CEO of Proctor & Gamble, and William Pollard, former CEO of ServiceMaster.
Ken Witty has been producing documentaries and public affairs programs for almost three decades. His credits include CBS News, “The MacNeil-Lehrer Newshour,” “Adam Smith’s Money World,” and “The Wall Street Journal Report.”
