Tom Thomson, who represented Canadian art, born in 1877 in Claremont, Ontario, died in 1917 mysterious. He single-handedly inspired a new style of Canadian art depicting the great outdoors. His works influenced the style of Group of Seven ,a landscape artist group in Canada , as well. However, during his brightest period, he was drowned in his own canoe near a lake which he went regularly. Was it an accident or planned murder? No one knows. But it the tragedy cemented his legacy as the father of Canadian art, forever. Although Tom’s life was so short, he left Canadian art so much. This episode introduces the McMichael Canadian Art Collection to experience the painting and to find more stories and excellent works of Tom Thomson and Group of Seven Canadian.
