Vintage is in vogue, be it in fashion, movies, adverts or music.
Never before earlier eras experienced such a global renaissance like it is happening nowadays!
Regardless if you look at Electro Swing and Electro Blues, Digital Cumbia, Balkan Beats or Nuevo Tango - traditional musical genres and well known classics with a new electronic livery gain new fans on all continents, especially in the young generation of music lovers.
Inspired by the successful CD series "The Electro Swing Revolution“ that resulted from the co-operation of the DJs and musical editors Gülbahar Kültür and Johannes Heretsch with the stirring world music label Lola's World Records in 2011, Johannes Heretsch developed the concept for the brand new compilation "The Electro Vintage Revolution".
DJ Louie Prima, passionately hunting for musical treasures, is hosting the world music radio show "Planet Sounds" on Radio Alex Berlin 88,4 and Radio Corax (Halle/Saale) since the year 2000.
After more than two years of research Louie Prima is finally presenting us with the findings of his surveys:
Two CDs containing 32 (partly previously unreleased) musical jewels from 16 countries in Europe, America and Africa.
Together with his fellow DJ Justin Fidèle, Louie Prima is organizing and hosting the Electro Swing Revolution party series that is taking place twice a month at Astra and Frannz Club in Berlin:
The two vintage enthusiasts created with "Peter Igelhoff - Dummes Kleines Ding-Lied" their own elegantly swinging interpretation of the Austrian pianist and singer's original song from 1936 (CD 1, track 1).
The Balkan Tango remix of "Mr. Zarko - The Land of Forgotten Dreams" was also produced by Louie Prima, this time he teamed up with Harry Chestwig from Melodyfarm.
The brand new songs from the superstars of this shimmering music scene give evidence of the incredibly broad musical range of the Electro Vintage Revolution:
Parov Stelar's "Menage A Trois" is a delicately jazzy masterpiece from the Vienna-based Electro Swing genius (CD2, track 7) whereas the Neo Swing Queen Caro Emerald from Amsterdam presents us her impressive Tango hit "Tangled Up", taken from her new album "The shocking Miss Emerald" (CD1, track 8).
Astonishingly even legendary Miriam Makeba from South Africa takes the international charts and dance floors by storm again with an excellent remix of her smash hit "Pata Pata" made by Milk & Sugar - 46 years after the release of her original song (CD2, track 13).
Even Ella Fitzgerald and Paolo Conte are enabled to jam together in the infectious "Italian Boogie" - thanks to the Electro Vintage Revolution and the Italian-German producer-duo Giacomo Lapati and DJane Woo Hoo (CD2, track 16).
Truly outstanding is also the elegantly stylish remix of jazz icon Sarah Vaughan's classic "Whatever Lola wants", made by the Parisian Electro Tango Kings Gotan Project (CD 2, track 14).
You won't be able to escape the exceptionally erotic yet rough voice of Mariana Yegros, the queen of Digital Cumbia from Buenos Aires. Her anthem "Viene de Mi" (that is remixed by her fellow-countryman Captain Planet on the compilation) unites Cumbia with Milonga, Chamamé and future pop (CD1, track 7).
The Electro Vintage Revolution provides you with a blazing hot global sound cocktail - perfect for fueling long nights during autumn and winter!
