Miles Davis was always in the jazz avant-garde, moving through the revolutions of be-bop, cool and modal jazz like a meteor,
never bound by any one style. « It is not enough to play all the notes », he would say, « it is enough to play just the most
beautiful ones ». With his pure sound, his abstract and minimalist playing style, his approach to music resembles Picasso's
manner of painting in the succession of periods leading him to a blues sublimated in an extreme concentration of energy and
a pared-down expression.
