Discovered in 2009 through the Schubert's Piano trios, Latitude 41 offers us the Piano trios of Camille Saint Saëns - favourite composer of the cellist.
Three decades separate the composition of the two trios, the first, melodious and cheerful and done to conquer the French public, the second, rich and serious, reflection of the experience of an entire life. Their very different characters contribute to the fullness of the record. They would deserve more public performances – a lack probably due to their high virtuosity.
The interpretation of Latitude 41 supports the comparison with the greatest references in the matter: a play with great delicacy, colour and poetry able to combine dynamic and flexibility, passion and sensitivity, bringing together these exceptional musicians in a single gesture. Latitude 41 always seems to get the right balance between emotion and intellect. As a group, they show an amazing ability to move from moderate 0 whisper to passionate explosion, as if they were one single mind.
